Disney’s D23 Expo has been going on in Anaheim, California since Friday and the stars from ABC and ABC Family have been out in force to meet with fans, pose for photos and talk about their projects in the numerous panels held throughout the weekend.

One of the most popular shows appearing at the expo, and one of CFM’s favorites, is ABC Family’s smash hit “Stitchers”.

CFM News: TV Review: Stitchers Nerdy Sci-Fi At It’s Best

CFM News was able to grab a few minutes with the cast today and asked some of the questions that were submitted to us by the fans:

Upon first reading it, what was it about the script that made you want to be a part of it?

Kyle Harris (Cameron) says ” For me it was the suspense with the action….anytime it got too serious it kind of had a nice little joke to kind of take you out of it and realize at the end of the day they are just kids playing with Sci-Fi technology and it’s just fun. It’s entertaining, you know?”

“It was just a fresh idea, the whole idea of stitching was something new that hadn’t been seen on television before.” says Ritesh Rajan who plays Linus on the show.  ” To have something fresh and exciting like that – it’s a great opportunity to work on a project like that.”

Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Maggie) is no stranger to Science Fiction ” I always seem to fall into some sort of Sci-Fi type show and I think I like them!”  And co -star Emma Ishta who plays Kirsten on the hit show likes that the show is female driven “I think we have really strong female characters who are smart.  I am really down with girls who are smart.  I hope we get even smarter and cooler in the second season.”

One fan wanted to know about Kirsten’s iconic costume on the show and if it was difficult to get in and out of? “It’s very easy actually – it’s like a spandex.  They tried to give me a latex suit originally and I accidentally broke it because latex is very difficult to get into.  But it just goes on and off and it’s fit to my body. I feel like I could do gymnastics in it” jokes Ishta.

Stitchers has really taken off quickly and gained a huge fan base all over the world.  We wondered if that much success so quickly surprised the cast.  “While we were making it I think we were unsure of what it was.” says Rajan “We knew there was an audience for it absolutely being ABC family but I think we were all just anxious to see how it would be received and I think we are all happy to know that it was received well and they are letting us come back for another one.”  (the show has already been renewed for a second season!) “You never know (when making a show), sometimes the best shows just disappear.  We were just happy that people liked it and they are going to give us a chance to do it again.” said Salli Richardson-Whitfield.

Of course the show does have some romance and angst and many fans wanted to know about how Kirsten is going to deal with the fact that she now is aware of Cameron’s feeling for her:  Emma Ishtar answers “A lot of it is not up to me, but it’s up to the writers. I think Kirsten has gone on this whole journey throughout the season where she has become a more emotional person.  And I think that changes the dynamic between her and every other character in the show. It opens up space for a better friendship with Camille and with Linus, and hopefully we will see Cameron and Kirsten’s relationship grow as well.  I am sure though that they (the writers) are gonna throw some spanners in the works somewhere so it’s not going to be all peaches and cream.”

Stitchers Season Finale: ‘Full Stop’ is The Cruelest Stitch of All

One of the fan’s favorite characters on the show is Camille played by Allison Scagliotti.  One fan remarked that none of the characters in the show is completely what they seem to be on the outside and wanted to know if Scagliotti has that in  mind when playing the character.  ” I tend to wanna decide on a backstory before I come to set so that I am not in the scene going “wait where am I from?” because that it just cumbersome and you are not present.” said Scagliotti. ” I asked a lot of questions before we started filming and then I just sort of made some squirrely decisions on my own.  And then you gotta let all of that go and show up and just let things happen with people who are doing the same thing. ”

And of course, everyone wants to know what to expect from Season 2 of the show and we tried to pry some details out of the cast to share with you. While not really knowing much about the coming season, they all expressed a want to know more about the characters backstories and the Stitchers program itself. “I think the writers are very responsive to our opinions as well so it should be nice to see how it comes out. ” said Harris.

Every member of the cast was really genuine and outgoing and truly seem to enjoy being in each other’s company.  I know fans will be anxiously awaiting Season 2 of “Stitchers” which doesn’t have a release date as yet, but CFM will bring you all of the news about Season 2 as it is released.
